JANET COLE DAVIDSON (nee THOMAS) April 16, 1933 - August 19, 2010 Peacefully on August 19, 2010 Janet passed away at Park Manor Personal Care Home. Janet is predeceased by her husband Donald in 2003; her parents, Jane and Jack Thomas; her sister Joan Slight and her brother-in-law Dennis Davidson of Victoria, BC. Janet will be missed by her daughter Barbara (Ken), grandchildren Christopher (Kayla Huff) and Scott; her son Thomas; her brothers-in-law Bill Slight and nephews Jeff (Betty), Bruce (Marlene) and their children. Janet married Don in 1954 and they chose St. Vital community in which to live, raise their family and participate in community activities over the years. Always interested in sports, Janet belonged to the Winnipeg Canoe Club. For many years she was a member of the St. Vital Ladies Curling Club, becoming the President of the St. Vital Curlettes. She also was on the council for the Manitoba Ladies Curling Association and helped with the Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame and Museum. Janet and Don also volunteered with the Manitoba Progressive Conservative Party, Neighbourhood Watch, and Folklorama at the Pavilion of Scotland. Janet was a member of St. Mary's Road United Church and helped whenever she could. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 27 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Road United Church, 613 St. Mary's Road. A reception to follow at the church. Special thanks are extended to the staff at Park Manor Personal Care Home for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
