SHEILA BOEN (nee Hughes) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila Boen, on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the age of 74. Survived by her husband Marlon, children Shawna Turner (Darren) and Sandra Henault (Rick), grandchildren Devyn and Lindsay Turner, and Isabel Henault. She will also be sadly missed by her sister Norma Taylor and brother Jack Hughes (Dorothy), sisters-in-law Edna Stennis, Irene Orr and Bernetta Tilbert, brothers-in-law Eugene and Dennis Boen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. A long time resident of Woodhaven, Sheila taught synchronized swimming in her early years, then moved on to a career at The Great-West Life Assurance Company, taking time off to raise her children, then returning until retirement. She was very proud of her Scottish heritage and volunteered for numerous organizations for many years, including Manitoba Highland Dancers Association, Folklorama - Pavilion of Scotland, United Scottish, Sons of Scotland, and the Winnipeg Heather-Belle Ladies Pipe Band. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery).
