BARBARA CRIGGIE

(nee JONES)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Barb, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and great-grandmother who slipped away quietly early on Friday, August 4, 2023.

She is cherished and lovingly remembered by her children, Ron (Marlene), Janet (Cameron), and Jo Anne (Norman); daughter-in-law Marianne Zorzos; grandchildren Jennifer (Colin), Nicole, Robert, Jaclynn, Janna (Justin), Mitchell (Jessalynn), Andrew and Rebecca; brother Ted Jones; sister Dianna Unrau; and brother-in-law Charlie Criggie (Faye). She also leaves behind 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barb was predeceased by her husband Robert, son William, parents Harry and Thelma, brothers Roy and Bryan, and sister Marlene.

Mom was born in Austin, Manitoba on June 3, 1937, where she spent most of her childhood. Barb and her family eventually made the move to Winnipeg, which is where she met her future husband, Bob. They married in 1954 and shortly thereafter started their family. Through the years they lived in several communities in Manitoba and Saskatchewan where they established lifelong friendships. Mom loved her regular bingo games which allowed her to sit down with friends to visit and share laughs. She also cherished attending the gold eyes games, loved knitting, and spending time with her family

Barb devoted much of her time volunteering for causes that were very near and dear to her. Much of her free time was dedicated to the efforts of the Royal Canadian Legions Ladies Auxiliary and ladies command where she held many executive positions. She was also involved in the IWVA and joint hospital. Barb also volunteered for 35 years at Folklorama’s Scottish pavilion.

Mom lived to have fun in whatever she was doing. From helping at a luncheon or attending a family function you could always count on her to make you laugh. Many have commented on how she made them laugh, and what an infectious laugh she had. We will miss you Barb

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 1:30 p.m., at the Royal Canadian Legion #4 located at 1755 Portage Avenue.
