C. DOUGLAS BRETT October 4, 1926 - October 10, 2000 On the evening of Tuesday, October 10, 2000 with his family at his side, Doug Brett passed away at Victoria General Hospital. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Buddy (Rosemary) sons, Scott (Mary), Chris, Rob; daughters, Paula, Lauren (George) grandchildren, Uri, Myles, Rory, Heather, Thalia, Curtiss; brothers, John (Ada), Jeff (Aldis), Paul (Lee), Dudley; sister-in-law Mabel (Bob) and many nieces and nephews. Doug was predeceased by his sisters, Betty and Wynne. Doug was born in Vancouver, BC. As a young man Doug worked for Dunlop Tire and General Motors. His work with the Community Ecumenical Ministry was a stepping stone to his final career with Workers Compensation Board. Our father till the very end lived life to the very fullest. His humour and wit never failed him. Since his retirement, his business card read: C. Douglas Brett - Consultant, Entrepreneur, Celtic Curmudgeon, Raconteur and Bon Vivant. Our father was an avid reader who was willing to share his thoughts and feelings on any subject. Dad was very proud of his Scottish heritage. He was honored to have been mayor of the Scottish Pavilion at Folkorama and was a vibrant member of the Caledonian Singers. The family extends their sincere thanks to Dr. Scott Young and Dr. Ian Maxwell for their care and understanding and to the staff of the Victoria Hospital for their kindness and compassion. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 13 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Pauls Anglican Church, 830 North Dr., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dougs memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association. So long, Laddie.
