Robert Criggie

Peacefully with family by his side, Robert passed away at Grace Hospital on May 28, 2019 at the age of 86.

He was predeceased by his son Bill, his parents Robert & Elizabeth, and his sister Betty.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 65 years Barbara, son Ron (Marlene), daughters Janet (Cam), Joanne (Norm), grandchildren Jennifer (Colin), Nicole, Rob, Jaclynn (Tyler), Janna, Mitchell, Andrew & Rebecca, great-grandchildren Jayden, Levi, Shay, Dylann, Wynslo, Liam, Amber, Sierra and Ryder, brother Charlie (Faye), brother-in-law Ted (Shirley), sister-in-law Dianna, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dad was born in Benholm, Scotland on September 22, 1932. He immigrated to Canada in 1950, married mom in April 1954 and started their family soon after. Through the years they lived in various communities in Saskatchewan and Manitoba where they established life long friendships. Dad spent most of his working life in the construction and the mining industries. Dad enjoyed flying, fishing, gardening, spending time at the lake and was a season ticket holder for the Goldeyes as well as watching the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He had a love for all animals.

His favourite past time was spending time with his family and friends. He was very involved with Deer Lodge Centre, the Legion where he volunteered his time and held executive positions. He was a life member of the Legion and the IWVA. Through the years dad was involved with all his childrens activities from boy scouts to highland dancing.

Dad could often be heard singing or whistling while he worked around the house, yard and the lake. Dad’s love for Scotland was contagious and he so enjoyed all his trips back home.

A special thanks to all the staff on 5 south at Grace Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal shelter of your choice.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at St. James Legion, 1755 Portage Ave., Winnipeg.
