ALEXANDER RAMSAY (1944 - 2002) Suddenly, on Friday, June 21, 2002 at home, Alex Ramsay of Pinawa, passed away with his loving wife at his side. Alex will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Alex was a dearly beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather. His memory will be forever cherished by his wife Sandra, children, Kirsten, and Frazer (Joni-Lea) and his little angels, Angelique and Gavin. Alex also leaves to mourn his sister Christine Mcdowall and family in East Kilbride, Scotland. Alex came to Canada from Clydebank, Scotland and he made his home in Pinawa, MB. In Pinawa, he found many friends and neighbours who became his family away from home. They were always there to lend a hand at times of need or to share a laugh in the good times. He treasured each and every one of them and we know he thought of them as his family. Although Alex came to Canada, he kept very close ties to his Scottish roots. He loved to share with others, the traditions and the culture of Scotland. Folklorama was his passion. He volunteered for many years at the Scottish pavilion and he was a member of the Folk Arts council of Winnipeg. He waited eagerly all year long for the two great weeks in August where he could celebrate his culture and learn from others. He leaves to mourn many dear friends at the Scottish pavilion and others that he met through his ties on the Folk arts council and throughout the festival of Folklorama. Alex was very involved in his community. He was an active member of the Pinawa Volunteer Fire Department for almost 35 years. His fellow fire fighters were another family to him. Alex loved to share his knowledge that he had gained through the years as a Fire Fighter with fellow fire fighters and any community groups that invited him. A memorial service will be held at the Pinawa Secondary School Gymnasium to celebrate Alexs life on Monday, June 24 at 3:00 p.m. An informal gathering will take place at the Pinawa Motor Inn following the service. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to friends, neighbours and the Pinawa Ambulance service and hospital for all they did for Alex. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alexs memory to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8.
